International tourism has brought about enormous benefits to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment. Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?
International tourism is one of the fastest-growing services across the world that has benefited the most. While the opposing view is that this growth harms local life and the environment. However, in my perspective, there is more gaining as compared to the loss.
The tourism industry plays a major role in any country’s economic development. This phenomenon includes value to the economy, foreign exchange earnings, and contribution to government revenues. Moreover, it is an imperative engine to attract more foreign exchanges with its potential. The liberal policies, relaxation in taxes, and comprehensive package influence tourist and foreign investment. It makes revenue to increase the role of government to make their country flourishing in tourism and established in the global market. For example, India has a rich source of tourism for the establishment of the brand. Of course, India has been launching incredible India to make tourism better. It helps significantly to any country for creating employment opportunities for a large number of people.
School children today take part in work experience sessions for short periods instead of attending school? Is this a positive or negative development?
The importance of international tourism is not only recognized through economic factors but there are also many positive social impacts of tourism that play an important part. It preserves local culture, strengthening communities, provision of social services, commercialization of culture and art. Many destinations make a conserved effort to preserve and protect the local culture. This often contributes to the conservation and sustainable management of natural resources, the protection of local heritage, and a renaissance of indigenous cultures, cultural arts, and crafts. To exemplify, tourists visit Beijing to learn more about the Chinese dynasties. Tourists visit Thailand to taste authentic Thai food.
On the other hand, tourism puts enormous stress on local land use and can lead to soil erosion, increased pollution, natural habitat loss, and more pressure on endangered species. These effects can gradually destroy the environmental resources on which tourism itself depends. But with the proper management, these issues can be resolved.
To conclude, although worldwide travel has some drawbacks, its enormous advantages cannot be neglected that outweighs the disadvantages.
