Many teenagers now have their own Smartphones. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages and give your own opinion.
Teenagers have lagged behind adults in their ownership of cell phones. They use it to connect with peers, seek help on school assignments, and even use many apps to help them get organized. But every technology that provides such benefits comes with a set of negative impacts. I will discuss the pros and cons of cell phones for teenagers.
The main benefits of smartphones for teens are social interaction, safety, and security, learning responsibility. Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumbler allow minors to reach out and find other kids that share their interests. In terms of safety, a quick text or phone call lets you know that your child is safe at the house of a friend, the library, or an after-school activity. Some smartphones include security apps that allow you to see the whereabouts of your children on a local map. Another benefit in this area is that you can use it as a tool to teach them about money, budgeting, and the consequences of overspending. It can accomplish by including your child on your family cell phone plan and letting them know how much data they have available each month. If they exceed that limit, then parents can become strict regarding their phone privileges and data usage.
New parents should attend parenting courses to bring up their children well. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Moreover, phones make them techno-savvy and give educational support. The future belongs to technology, and providing your younger teens access to a cell phone may have an edge when it comes to learning new skills. For example, early learnings may steer them toward a career in mobile technology and follow in the footsteps of Chris Sacca, an experienced entrepreneur and CEO of Lowercase Capital, where he helps bankroll startup companies. Chris Sacca’s wife, a partner in the same company, is also the mother of three young children. They are growing up in the world of advanced technology. Even online lessons, infographics, and tutorial websites assist freely with a click. It helps them to meet the educational difficulties that they face in classrooms.
However, this phenomenon has some drawbacks that sometimes overweight the advantages. The immoderate use of mobile phones causes several harmful health effects as they spend all day talking or texting instead of doing productive things. The most considered health issues involve headaches, anxiety, decreased attention, shortness of temper, sleep disorders, and depression. Another disadvantage is that overusing cell phone is increasingly create family issues. Children give more importance to mobiles than parents. Sometimes they never respond to the talks of their parents that lead to aggression. Consequently, such situations give birth to dangerous situations and quarrels among them.
To conclude, minors should be a part of the growing technological zone and enjoy its benefits, but in moderation. They do not let technology take away the happiness of playing outside and spending time with family. To reduce harmful effects, they should remember mobile is a friend, not a master, so its use should be limited.
