Nowadays, technology has not only changed the way we live our lives but the way we perform our daily tasks. I agree that these improvements have enabled people to work and travel in any corner of the world, but there are few drawbacks. In this essay, I will discuss both sides of the argument.
The advantages of communication technology are immeasurable especially for working. It makes it possible to speak to people in real-time, whether that is an over the messaging app or via video call on your pc. No matters they are at home, coffee shop. Beyond this, the more technology develops, the more secure it becomes. Nowadays, most apps use end-to-end encryption, which means the messages can only be read by the sender and receiver. They can work without taking the burden of leaking out their working tricks. Besides this, it also improves customer relations for business holders across the world to gain more profits. Moreover, it is eco-friendly, as e-mails are replaced by letters.
Nowadays online shopping is replacing physical shopping in stores. Do the benefits outweigh the drawbacks, in your view?
Furthermore, another advancement that has been an asset to the modern lifestyle is transportation. The reason for this is trains, cars, and flights which have reduced the traveling time by an exponential number of hours. For instance, metros now make it easy for an employee to attend a morning meeting in Delhi, noon at another place, and meeting over dinner back home. In addition to this, traveling to a different time zone to monitor work status and return the same day is also possible because of fast travel modes like flights.
On the other hand, the major drawback with communication technology is that some employers might call or drop an urgent mail without considering employee leisure time. Another downside, this flexibility, and convenience has made people physically inactive and led to some health problems. Nevertheless, these minor drawbacks are negligible when we consider the benefits.
In conclusion, while it is true that advancement in technology has led people to a sedentary lifestyle, it impacts greatly on work. So, its benefits cannot be ignored.
